FEBRUARY KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for cattle slaughterings rose for the fourth consecutive month, to 646,800. This was the highest figure recorded since June 2005.
  • The trend estimate for beef production rose for the fifth consecutive month, to 175,200 tonnes. This was the highest figure recorded since June 2005.
  • The trend estimate for pigs slaughterings fell for the fourth consecutive month, to 439,900. This was the lowest figure recorded since July 2005.
  • The trend estimate for pig meat production fell for the fourth consecutive month, to 31,800 tonnes. This was the lowest figure recorded since July 2001.
